Expanding Our Reach: New Community Centre Opens in Ibadan

After two years of planning, fundraising, and construction, the Victoria & James Akinleye Foundation is proud to announce the opening of our new multipurpose community centre in the heart of Ibadan. The facility, named the James Akinleye Memorial Centre, will serve as a hub for education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for over 2,000 families in the surrounding communities.

A Dream Realized

The idea for the community centre was born in 2023, when our team realized that many of the families we served had to travel long distances to access basic services. "We wanted to bring everything under one roof," says Pastor Yemisi Wole-Akinleye, the Foundation's founder. "Education, health, vocational training, and community gathering — all in one place."

What's Inside

The centre features a state-of-the-art digital learning lab with 40 computers and high-speed internet, a medical clinic staffed by volunteer nurses and doctors three days a week, a vocational training hall equipped for tailoring, carpentry, and catering classes, and a community garden that will provide fresh produce to local families.

Community Response

The opening ceremony was attended by over 500 community members, local chiefs, and government officials. "This is not just a building," said the Baale of Moniya. "It is a beacon of hope for our children and grandchildren."

The project was funded through a combination of individual donations, corporate partnerships, and a generous matching grant from the Canadian International Development Agency. We extend our deepest gratitude to every donor who made this dream possible.
